The National Organization of Alternative Programs (NOAP) is proud to announce the endorsement of the Federation of State Physician Health Programs (FSPHP) Position Statement: Safety Considerations for Medication Treatment of Opioid Use Disorders in Monitored Health Professionals.

    View the position statement

NOAP supports the Federation of State Physician Health Programs (FSPHP) work to identify best practices for safety-sensitive workers. The statement provides guidance regarding safety considerations for medication treatment of opioid use disorders, specific to the monitored health professional.

With the Justice Department recently finding that the Americans with Disabilities Act provides protections to individuals taking prescribed medication for opioid use disorder, it is important for monitoring programs to have guidance as they consider this issue.  NOAP believes that the FSPHP position statement provides thoughtful and reasonable guidance based on current knowledge.

NOAP will provide statement updates and additional resources as they become available.
