The pillars of our work are based in three focus areas:
Education - Both in person and online training focused on offering techniques and structure for alternative programs are offered regularly to NOAP’s membership base and the public at large. NOAP also maintains a volunteer based research committee that produces research papers grounded in sharing best practices for alternative program professionals. NOAPs website maintains a robust library of these white papers.
Advocacy - NOAP is on the frontline of working toward policy reform and making recommendations for policy development as well as striving for social change to reduce the stigma associated with healthcare professionals suffering from substance abuse and other unsafe conditions within their workplace environment.
Networking - NOAPs annual conference remains its signature program where Alternative Program Staff and Directors gather together to share best practices that they can take back to their organizations to improve the conditions of those healthcare professionals needing alternatives to discipline.
Today, over 46 states have recognized alternative to disciple programs assisting nursing colleagues and NOAPs leadership remains strong. We are eager to grow our educational programs, serve more members and organizations, and strive toward eliminating the stigma associated with nurses needing alternative programs.
Our goals are ambitious and achievable. In addition to the above, we look forward to offering scholarships for individuals and organizations providing alternative programs. We are also in the very exciting, beginning stages of developing an online platform for nurses and providers to come together to build community, manage stress, and find support.
As you can see, NOAP is growing and evolving! I humbly ask you to partner with us in this new exciting chapter. There are several ways you can join us:
